It is with a very heavy heart that I write this post because blogging has been one of the few things I have really enjoyed lately – and I have a ton of content ideas! – but I have finally come to the frustrating conclusion that I need to take a bit of a break.
If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that I’ve been going through some ish this fall – both personally and professionally. For a long time I thought that I just needed to learn how to manage everything a little bit better (because there is a lot that I want to do!), but lately it has become painfully clear that I’m lacking the good, solid foundation needed to really make that work. So, in an effort to get to a healthier normal, I’m going back to the basics, establishing a better routine, and then adding back in from there.
While the idea of taking a blogging hiatus really does pain me, especially with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and all kinds of other geekynerdy things coming up, I’m looking forward to using the time to brush up on some blogging basics and creating a really awesome Geeky Musings Version 2.0.
When I started Geeky Musings from a Nerdy Girl, I had a certain sense of the content I wanted to produce, but I began without much of a game plan. Then, while I tried to figure out some of the fundamentals, I thought I could just blog and update as I went. Though I think that worked for a little bit, it is definitely true that my blog has shifted directions a few times, and I’ve certainly gotten off topic every now and then. With this break, I will at long last do some of the planning that I should have done forever ago – really honing in on what it is I want to focus on (though I think it will be more a matter of better sticking to what I already have in mind) and setting up a good editorial calendar so I can post more regularly than I have been.
Thanks to my full-time job, I am well aware that “content is king” in this 24/7 world of ours so it is quite possible that I will lose some of you as readers because while I’m hitting the pause button, newer fancier-schmancier sites will pop up and there are only so many things we can skim in a day! That said, I really hope you’ll come back and that you’ll like whatever revamps I have in store!
