The Mysterious Mr. C and I have been in Pittsburgh for the last few days visiting my parents and taking care of some wedding stuff, so I apologize for the lateness of this Nerd Alert! Most of the links are Disney-related, but hopefully you enjoy them as much as I did!

1. As a book nerd, Beauty and the Beast is easily my all-time favorite animated Disney movie. The story, the characters, the music – I just love everything about it! So when I heard that the studio was putting together a live-action take on the 1991 classic, I was more than a little intrigued. And now that I’ve seen pictures of the cast, I can hardly contain my excitement!! It looks like Disney is working hard to get this right and March 17, 2017 cannot get here fast enough!

2. Speaking of Disney movies, most people know that the animators include various Easter eggs in the company’s films. While there are a number of lists out there chronciling these homages, I recently found this one by Boredom Therapy. It includes 43 hidden secrets about the animations themselves, as well as about the artists and the man behind the mouse.

3. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that C and I are busy getting ready for this Thursday’s premiere of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. While I have read a number of articles detailing the history of Marvel movies, the cinematic flops, and the company’s now seemingly-unstoppable studios, this article by the BBC’s Mark Savage is a terrific read about how an entity that once faced bankruptcy could see the Avengers overtake Harry Potter as the world’s biggest franchise.

4. Thinking of film franchises reminded me of this Cars 2/Furious 7 mash-up created by the folks over at IGN. Though I haven’t watched either one of these films, I have seen the previews and I must say, the stars seem to have aligned fairly well. The action, the bromances, the exotic locations – this trailer certainly answers the question of what would Furious 7 look like if Pixar made it!

5. Last week, the Internet was buzzing with the discovery of a glass frog in Costa Rica that looked eerily similar to The Muppets’ Kermit the Frog. While the side-by-side pictures alone were fun to look at, Disney took it a step further and released a Q&A with the famous amphibian, giving him a chance to share his thoughts on his cousin and the benefits of being transparent.

6. As I’m sure you can tell, we are big Game of Thrones fans and C was so excited to see the House of Black and White in last week’s episode. While I don’t normally give theories regarding my favorite shows/characters much thought, I found this take on the return of Jaqen H’ghar by Vanity Fair’s Joanna Robinson quite intriguing. The show’s creators have admitted that the plots this season will diverge from those in the books, so it does seem an entirely plausible line of thought!
