Back to Basics

I’ll be honest readers, looking over the past few months (years, really) of blog posts is painful for me. My posting schedule, which is supposed to be three times a week, has been sporadic at best and nearly non-existent at worst. Oh sure, there are reasons for that – from struggling with the demands of a fast-paced, high-intensity job to getting married to picking up work as a freelance editor – but it’s not just the external stuff that’s been getting in my way. A lot of it has been me.  Read More

Be Kind. No Exceptions.

Quotable Cards

Quotable Cards

As I got back into the blogging swing of things this week, I started compiling a list of fun links for today’s Nerd Alert. Yet after all of the events that have occurred over the past few days, my heart’s just not in it at the moment. The senseless loss of life and the divisions that I’ve seen appearing on my social media feeds have really gotten to me. So I’m going to take a break and unplug this weekend. I’m going to do what past therapists have recommended and focus on some self-care and, hopefully, return to some sort of equilibrium. I’m going to hug my husband close and tell the people I care about that I love them. And I’m going to take a page from my friend Secret Agent L and be kind, no exceptions.

2016 Blog Bucket List

This past weekend, it really hit the Mysterious Mr. C and me that we are a little more than halfway through the year. And while there are still six months left until we ring in 2017, we realized just how many times we say things like, “Oh we should go do X,” but then never actually do.

In an effort to change that and go on more adventures, we came up with a brief bucket list for the rest of the year full of places we want to go and things we want to do. And since I was feeling in a proactive mood, I decided to make one for the blog as well!  Read More

Year of the Blog

Happy New Year readers!! As I am sure is very apparent from the fact that my last post was nearly 100 days ago, my “pause” lasted a little longer than I was planning. Part of that was because the week leading up to our #MysteriousMrMrsC wedding was a bit more hectic than I was expecting (yay DIY decorations!) and then we took a quick mini-moon afterwards to decompress. Next, my immune system seemed to completely collapse and I spent most of November asleep on the couch. Of course, after that, the Christmas holiday loomed and before I knew it, it seemed to make more sense to just keep the pause going and come back fresh in the new year.  Read More
